历史沿革[edit]
荻海埠在清咸丰元年（1851年）前后建成，与长沙、新昌两埠合称三埠。同治四年（1865年）荻海归新宁（今台山）县平康都管辖，民国时期划入台山县第四区。1952年并入开平县，编为第一区思南乡，1958年改称思南大队，1987年设荻海管理区；开平撤县设市后属三埠街道，1999年才有现在的社区居委会。[1][2]
地理与街区[edit]
社区东到潭江支流，南接思始村，西靠三围村，北临潭江。主要街道有风采路、中和路、长安路、太平路、荻环路、思明路等。荻海埠从前是开平的重要商埠，水路便利；公路兴起后，商埠的地位渐被其他城镇取代。20世纪末建成祥荻桥、新中桥、荻新桥和迎宾路，把荻海与新昌、祥龙两埠连通。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
风采堂又名荻海名贤余忠襄公祠，台山、开平等地的余姓族人为纪念北宋余靖而建，1906年兴建，1914年建成；后来在祠堂基础上办起小学和初中，今日的风采中学即由此而来。2019年10月，国务院将风采堂核定为第八批全国重点文物保护单位。2012年起，开平市纪委在这里建设廉政教育基地。[3][4]
荣誉[edit]
荻海社区于2022年12月被确定为江门市第二批绿色社区。[1]
