历史沿革[edit]
据地名资料，林氏始祖林拱宸原居潭江北岸的潮透林边村，后看中此地山水而迁居开基；其祖居在潭江青胆洋之南，他迁到洋北，故名北洋。[1]民国时期属北洋乡；人民公社时期成立北洋管理区和北洋大队，1984年改乡，现称村民委员会自1999年沿用。[1]
经济[edit]
村东至牛勒村，西至沿江村，北至田金村。村民种水稻约1000亩，柑桔和香蕉共450亩，是镇内主要的柑桔产地之一；鱼塘800多亩，以四大家鱼为主，也有少量养殖南美白对虾。[1]
