历史沿革[edit]
相传立村时，村东北有牛山，东南有「文阁」，远看像牛拴在柱上，因而得名。明正德年间（1506—1521年），林姓先人从江门滘头迁来立村。清道光县志记有「牛口勒村林姓」，民国时期属第五区北洋乡，又写作「牛簕」，1951年已用今名。[1]公社时期先并入北洋管理区，1959年才单列为牛勒大队，1984年改乡，1986年设村委会。[1]

据博雅地名网，全村分12个村民小组，常住居民2100余人，有民办企业18家；1226.75亩耕地中，水稻占626.37亩，水果占441.7亩。[1]百度百科记村域面积390.11公顷。[2]
文化[edit]
端午赛龙舟是全村参与的活动，村子2008年被江门市评为「体育特色村」，新会区龙舟协会会址设在村内。[1]百度百科称，2024年村里投入100多万元改造龙舟文化公园，并入选广东省「四季村晚」示范展示点。[2]2026年3月，牛勒村被认定为广东省第三批「百千万工程」典型村镇。[1]
