历史沿革[edit]
明清时期，吉田村属景顺乡布社都；民国时期属二区文安乡；吉田大队在1978年由香山大队分出，归高鹤县合水公社；1983年改叫吉田乡，1987年设吉田村委会[3]。2004年船田村委会并入吉田村委会，2005年随合水镇并入更合镇[3]。
地理与经济[edit]
村委会占地约9平方千米，耕地2120多亩，鱼塘300多亩，辖吉田、船田、上连、下连、大冲坑、石陂、新塘、新洞8条自然村，村情材料（未注明年份）记有669户，2378人；村民种植水稻、粉葛、生姜、苦瓜、茄瓜、白瓜，也养鸡养鱼，部分人外出务工[1][2]。
创建[edit]
村情材料称，8条自然村的村道都已硬底化；新塘村在2010年被评为佛山市文明村，2012年被评为广东省卫生村[2]。
