历史沿革[edit]
王臣村明清和民国时属高要县第九区泰和乡。1951年12月设王臣乡，同年泰和乡划归高明县；1958年成立王臣大队，隶属高鹤县西安公社。1987年设村委会，1989年改称管理区，属富湾镇；1999年改归西安街道，2005年区划调整后改属荷城街道。[2]
人口与经济[edit]
村简介载，全村613户、2658人，耕地2000多亩，山林约2300多亩，下辖上五一、下五一、松江、赤坎一、赤坎二、赤坎三、王臣东、王臣西、大仍9个村民小组，有党员67人。村民以种稻和水产养殖为主，近年引入花卉园林种植和塑料加工项目。[1]
