历史沿革[edit]
新民、新中、新联原是溪港发源地的三个聚落。[2] 博雅地名网记其创村于明代（1403年，所载年号与年份不一致），明、清到民国初年属潮阳县港头乡；此后曾称新民大队、新民乡，1986年起设村委会，其间一度称新民管理区。[2]
经济[edit]
以农业为主，特产有脐橙、潮汕柑和沉香。新民村与邻近的新联村、溪尾周村一起实施了高标准基本农田建设。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2019年9月，上榜2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；2022年1月，被确定为广东省乡村治理示范村创建单位（2021年度）；2026年3月，认定为广东省第三批「百千万工程」典型村镇。[2]
