地名由来[edit]
相传村庄高处曾有一个大湖，故称上湖。[1]
地理与经济[edit]
村域15平方公里，山林占2.1万亩：用材林14500亩，毛竹林4500亩，果树经济林2200亩，油茶林320亩。耕地1365亩，其中稻田920亩。全村分10个村民小组，225户、938人。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
第二次国内革命战争时期，杨屋、西坑、小东坑、里和田、安湖以及私公地等自然村一带是游击区，旧址当年用作游击战争的临时指挥部。南雄市投入近20万元修复旧址，并把它建成爱国主义教育基地。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
村原属湖山乡，1956年组成上湖高级社，1958年立上湖大队（黄坑公社），1962年改归邓坊公社。1983年设乡，1988年为管理区，1998年12月撤区建村。[1]
