赤马村在邓坊镇南部，距镇政府约4.5公里，是平原村，辖8个村民小组，455户1738人。[1]
地名由来[edit]
该村委会从马战村委会分出，有“拆马”之意，客家话“拆马”与“赤马”读音相近，故名。[1]
地理与经济[edit]
全村总面积662.2公顷，其中耕地2120亩、林地222.7公顷；南、西与湖口镇相邻。以黄烟为主导产业，李子产业使它在2021年9月入选第二批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村；2019年9月，它又被列入「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
这里最初是农场：1958年办赤马农场，1962年冬农场撤销，由水底和四头门两个地方合成赤马大队；1966年重办农场，至1971年再撤，复设大队，归邓坊管辖。1983年设乡，1988年为管理区，1998年12月撤区建村。[1]
