村名取自石楼：旧称「石狮头」，因莲花山有一块狮形巨石，读音快读成「石楼」[1]。区政府网站提到的石二村大井头，是石楼镇的历史街区之一[2]。
2025年12月和2026年1月，先后获番禺区、广州市「2025年充分就业社区（村）」认定[1]。
