历史沿革[edit]
明代中期，林氏从福建迁居此地，因村前山溪的洪水凶猛，取名猛涌。1854年（清咸丰四年），村中的林洸漋加入红巾军，事败后村民受到镇压，为祈求平安曾改称万宝村，不久又改回猛涌。[1]
经济[edit]
博雅地名网转录的村情资料（未注明年份）记载：耕地40亩，人口449人；有工业企业13家，工业总产值1.28亿元。村出产的番薯干「四季仔」，色泽金黄、透明如琥珀，传说在清代曾列为贡品，销往东南亚和港澳。[2][1]
荣誉[edit]
- 阿里研究院等机构发布的「2020年淘宝村」「2021年淘宝村」「2022年淘宝村」名单中均有该村。[1]
- 曾获广东省文明村称号，并为广东省民主法治示范村。[2]
- 列入「2022年广东省乡村治理示范村」创建单位（2023年4月公布），并在2026年1月获评广东省第二批「百千万工程」典型村。[1]
- 获认定为「2024年广州市充分就业社区（村）」（2024年11月）。[1]
文化[edit]
村心的猛涌公园由约24亩的鱼塘改造而成，建于二十一世纪初，是大石街新农村建设的起点之一。[2]
