河口镇位于广东省云浮市郁南县南部，南江自西往东穿过镇境，白石河由东南一侧注入镇中部后并入南江，镇名来自两河交汇口的岸边。全镇面积76.5平方千米，第七次全国人口普查时人口为2.14万人。1987年始设河口镇，此前这一带曾先后称河口区和河口人民公社。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

1987年，河口区改设为河口镇。回溯此前的变化：1983年称河口区；1961年自东风人民公社划出，另设人民公社；1958年前后仍属东风人民公社的辖地。解放初为河口行政村，1953年又改为乡制。民国初此处称三保乡，归第八区管辖，民国后期与西坝、天安两乡一并划入连滩区。明、清两代隶属建康都河口堡。[1][3]

地理环境[edit]

镇域多为低矮的馒头形山丘，适宜大面积开发种养。矿产有白云石、石灰石、河沙和高岭土（红土）等。省道德朱线横贯全镇，向南可通罗定市，向东可达西江岸边的南江口港。[2]

经济[edit]

镇内企业以水泥厂、红砖厂和采石场为主，红砖生产是镇的支柱产业。农作物有水稻、玉米、花生、木薯、蚕桑、水果、黄烟和葱蒜等，果木以无核黄皮、麻竹、荔枝和芒果为主；广东省的“一乡一品”扶持计划亦将无核黄皮列为发展项目。[2]

文化[edit]

镇内部分村委会日常交谈用客家话和闽南话。河口镇于2022年1月被命名为「2021年度广东省卫生城镇」。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

磨刀山遗址位于和都村，在南江盆地东北缘，距现代河床约500米。遗址发现于2013年1月，2014年4月至7月由省级考古机构会同北京大学和云浮、郁南两地博物馆联合发掘，出土石制品的数量据郁南县政府网站为近400件，据百度百科为300余件。遗址年代约距今60万至80万年，是广东迄今发现年代最早的古文化遗存。2019年被国务院列入「第八批全国重点文物保护单位」。[4][5][6]

河口寨村的康家大屋即广东省立庚戌中学郁南办学旧址，列为「第十批广东省文物保护单位」，1939年该校迁此复校。[7][8][9]

据郁南县第二批不可移动文物名录，镇内登记在册的古文化遗址有40处，均未定级，分布于甘罗、和都、佛子坝、河口寨、油麻坑等村。[10]
