黄沙村曾名横山，是船埔镇下辖的行政村，村中自然村有黄沙、凹头、石溜、溜下，另有四斗种、上大塘、黄公田、坡尾坑等。[1]

村子位于莲花山系的一条支脉上，原名横山；客家话中“横山”与“黄沙”读音相近，遂改为今名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

原属惠来县，1949年划入南阳山特区。1958年归南阳山人民公社，1963年改称黄沙大队，1984年设黄沙乡，1986年改为黄沙村，1999年改称村委会。2003年黄沙乡撤销，并入船埔镇。[1]

经济[edit]

耕地520亩，山地14025亩，以林业为主，林木有杉、松、竹。农作以稻谷、甘薯、蔬菜为主，水果有桃、李、青梅、柿，并产单丛茶。村中有砖厂一家。[1]

近年村中积极发展生姜种植，2023年地方报道称“姜经济”为村里的特色产业。[2]

2019年9月，该村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
