黄沙在1956年是一个乡，1958年成为大队；1983年重新称乡，1987年起叫管理区，1998年撤区设村，成立村民委员会。^[1]

广东省农业农村厅2020年8月公布首批「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村，黄沙村入选，对应的产品是草珊瑚。^[1]
