莲花村位于岭背镇西面，离镇圩约2.5公里，下辖8个村民小组。村名的来历与1983年的一次改名有关：当时全县有多个以莲塘命名的村，莲塘生产大队于是改为莲花乡政府。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1983年，莲塘生产大队改称莲花乡政府，之后经历乡政府改村委会、管理区等建制变化，1999年起以村委会的名称沿用至今。[1][2]

人口与经济[edit]

2013年底，全村492户、2232人，劳动力1410人。村里耕地共2540亩，旱地1081亩，水田1465亩。2014年全村经济收入约1715万元，村集体收入仅1万元，村民收入以种植、养殖和外出务工为主。[1]

2019年，岭背镇的蒲芦洲村与莲花村达到贫困村退出标准，莲花村就此退出贫困村序列。[3]

荣誉[edit]

2022年，莲花村列入广东省「2022年广东省一村一品、一镇一业专业村」名单，主导产业为沙糖桔。[1]
