新圩镇是阳西县辖下的一个镇，位于县境西北部。它北接阳春市的八甲镇，西连电白区的望夫镇，东面是蒲牌镇，南面紧挨儒洞镇。全镇设1个社区和13个行政村，以山区农业为主，依第七次全国人口普查的数字，人口约2.14万人。[1][2][3]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，明嘉靖年间（1522年至1566年）此处有人落户，逐步形成集市，最初叫界头圩。清宣统元年（1909年）更名为良村堡渡头新圩，后来简称新圩。[1]

自1368年至1907年，这一片地方在海陵乡白石都白石二图的范围之内。1956至1957年间划归儒洞区，当时是阳江县儒洞区下的新圩乡；1958年改入大跃进人民公社，翌年转属儒洞公社；1963年改设新圩区。1987年改区为镇，名为阳江县新圩镇。1988年4月阳西设县，镇名随之变为阳西县新圩镇。[1][3]

文献中该镇也写作新墟镇。百度百科与博雅地名网的正文多用此名，两处叙述的沿革一致，指的是同一个镇。[3][1]

地理环境[edit]

镇域面积的记载不一：博雅地名网作133平方千米，百度百科作181平方千米，两者均未注明年份。省道282线南北贯穿全镇。[1][2][3]

全镇耕地约2.1万亩，其中水田约1.8万亩，可以种果的山坡地约6.2万亩。[2]

人口[edit]

依第七次全国人口普查的结果，新圩镇在2021年6月登记人口为2.14万人，在阳西县各镇中排第8位。[1] 百度百科记2020年末户籍人口为39282人。[3]

经济[edit]

博雅地名网的镇概况所用数据止于2003年：当年农业总产值1.339亿元，农民人均收入3592元。[2]

水果与中药材是主要作物。山地种果约2.6万亩，主要为荔枝、龙眼和芒果，沿省道两侧较多；香蕉约3000亩，集中在河角、禾塘、沙河等村；中药材约6000亩，以金钱草为主，首乌和佛手也有种植。[2]

据百度百科，2020年全镇登记在册的工业企业共22家，规模以上的只有3家。[3] 新圩镇在2019年11月被认定为广东省森林小镇，2021年12月又被确定为2021年度阳江市卫生镇。[1]
