中兴村是热水镇下辖的行政村，村名寓意中国兴旺富强。[1]

村内有「中共和平县第一个支部旧址」和方华故居。方华1912年生，原名罗响，是本村人。2021年12月，中兴村获2021年广东省卫生村称号。[1][2][3]

历史沿革[edit]

1948年以前，此处为乡公所。1955年和1956年先后成立初级社、高级社，1958年人民公社成立后为中兴生产大队；1960年成为独立生产大队，1967年设大队革命委员会，1970年大队革命委员会撤销，改称生产大队。1987年起，此处为热水乡下的中兴管理区；1999年设立中兴村村民委员会，名称沿用至今。[1]

文化[edit]

罗氏祠堂即「中共和平县第一个支部旧址」。1934年夏，罗响出任东华小学校长，张觉青担任教导主任，学校即设在罗氏祠堂内。[2]

方华（1912—1999），原名罗响，1932年参加革命，1938年5月入党，1939年9月当选中共七大代表。新中国成立后，他任过湛江、茂名的市委书记。方华故居在上楼自然村。[2][3]
