下洞村位于上坪镇最南端，与三洞村、石陂村、新镇村等相邻。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村庄原与石陂、新陂合为下坪村。1975年分为新陂、石陂、下洞三个大队，下洞为其中之一，村名由此而来。新陂村的页面将分队之年记为1976年，两说并录。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

1975年为下洞大队，1985年改下洞乡，1995年改下洞管理区，1998年设下洞村。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2023年4月，村庄列入「2022年广东省乡村治理示范村」创建单位名单；2023年5月，获广东省爱卫会授予「2022年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
