东河村位于县城正东方向，与县城隔着一条河，是元善镇下辖的行政村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村名与地形有关：村落建在东山脚下，呈南北走向，与县城隔着一条河，位于县城的正东方，故称东河。[1]

1950年新龙与东河合并，设新东乡公所；1955年和1956年先后组建初级社、高级社。1960年撤销新东乡公所，改设东河生产大队。1981年起称东河管理区，直到1999年撤区后才有东河村委会。[1]

2026年3月，东河村被认定为第三批广东省“百千万工程”典型村镇。[1]
