梅东村位于通衢镇东部，城乡分类属村庄。村名的由来很直白：1950年前它归属梅城乡，位置在梅城乡的东面，因此得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1950年，这里仍属梅城乡，称梅城乡梅东村。此后它经历了几番改制：先变为生产大队，1968年冬成立革命委员会，1977年回到大队，1983年一度成为梅东乡。1986年设村委会，1988年转为管理区，1999年重新设村委会。[1]

文化[edit]

2019年9月，梅东村上榜「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。2021年4月，村子获得「2020年度龙川县文明村镇」称号。广东省爱卫会在2023年5月把梅东村列为「2022年广东省卫生村」。[1]
