城东社区是汕尾市陆丰市甲子镇下辖的社区，处在甲子、甲东、甲西三镇交接的地带，省道338线穿过辖区。[1]

概况[edit]

社区的介绍称，这里是甲子镇人口、市场和交通较为集中的一处，主要街道有陆甲大道、人民路、光明路、复兴路等。辖区约有2540户、12700人，设有民办小学3所、幼儿园1所，另有工厂企业42家。居民靠小企业、经商、外出务工谋生，少数人务农。[1]

为便于管理，辖区分成东南、东北、东新、复兴、荣兴五个片区，各由社区两委干部负责；禁毒工作另划14个小网格，已装治安视频监控点9个。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

最早是1973年成立的城东农业大队，十年后改称农管区；1987年有了居委会之名，1994年一度叫管理区，1999年恢复居委会，到2002年才定名城东社区居委会。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，社区入选2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；2020年12月，获广东省爱卫会授予的2020年广东省卫生村称号。[2]
