东方村是甲子镇下辖的行政村，在镇东北，北与惠来县岐石镇隔江相望，西邻甲西镇渔池村，东到瀛江主航道，南接半径社区。[1]

辖区3.3平方公里，有781户，村户籍人口4539人，其中常住2073人；党员62人，行政干部7人。耕地1200亩，其中水田400亩；山林330亩，虾池和滩涂养殖面积230亩。村介绍称它以农业为主、养殖和捕捞为辅，是革命老区。辖区内有陆丰市甲秀职业技术学校和甲子镇第八小学。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1959年成立东方大队，隶属甲子公社；1975年起属甲子镇。其后1983年叫农管区，1987年叫村委会，1994年叫管理区，1999年又恢复村委会。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
玉清宫当地人习称「玉帝宫」，在东方村（原鹿角头村）东北方向的渡头山上。博雅地名网称它始建于宋朝末年，清康熙九年曾重修；道光十二年遭强台风毁坏，到十九年，才由道士廖道寿主持重建。[2]
荣誉[edit]
2019年9月，社区入选2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；2020年12月，获广东省爱卫会授予的2020年广东省卫生村称号。[2]
