1987年1月，东宫从东溪社区分出，辖区约0.065平方公里，户籍6653人、1329户。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
当地原有一处旧社，土名东宫社；1987年1月镇政府划分区域时沿用此名，设东宫居委会。1994年称管理区，1999年复为居委会，2002年起称东宫社区居委会。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
待渡山在甲子港岸边，又名大胆山，山上有泥（三合土）塔「甲秀楼」，社区介绍称建于明代，塔呈六角形，一条六十八级的石阶沿山道盘旋而上。山的东麓崖石上有「登瀛」两字摩崖石刻，介绍称为南宋邑人范良臣所题。山上的进食亭、复翁亭，是后人为纪念范良臣和郑复翁而建。[1]
山下的天后宫门前有一对石狮，造于乾隆年间。[1]2022年3月，汕尾市人民政府将甲子待渡山古迹（年代为南宋）和甲子天后宫（年代为清）公布为汕尾市第三批文物保护单位。[2]更多见甲子镇条。[2]
荣誉[edit]
2019年9月，社区入选2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；2020年12月，获广东省爱卫会授予的2020年广东省卫生村称号。[2]
