南万镇在汕尾市陆河县西北部山区，是螺河的发源地，镇政府设在万全村。[3] 它东面是河田镇，南接新田镇，北连螺溪镇，西边隔着莲花山山脉的支脉与河源市紫金县、梅州市五华县相邻。[3] 镇名取自境内的南告和万畲两处地名。[3] 全镇下辖14个行政村，2020年末常住人口3160人。[1][7]

历史沿革[edit]

据汕尾市民政局的地名文化介绍，1950年之后这里归河田区；1957年撤区并乡，设南万乡；次年并入河田公社，1959年又分出来，成立南万公社。[3] 1984年公社改为区公所，1986年区公所撤销、改建南万乡。[3] 1988年陆河设县，南万乡从陆丰县划出，划归陆河县。[3] 1993年撤乡建镇。[3][7]

地理环境[edit]

南万是陆河县海拔最高的山区镇，莲花山山脉的支脉顺西北部县界伸展，成为与紫金县的界线和分水岭。[3] 镇政府的介绍称全镇有山林16.3万亩，耕地6300亩，红锥林8万亩，森林覆盖率86.33%。[2] 镇内主要河流是螺河水系的万全河，支流有汀洋河；矿藏有钨、锡、铅、锌、稀土等。[7] 1997年8月2日至3日，南万录得降雨量469.3毫米。[7]

人口与行政区划[edit]

2020年第七次全国人口普查，南万镇常住人口3160人，比2010年少了7020人。[7] 镇政府的简介另称户籍人口约1.6万，常住约3000人。[2] 14个行政村是万西、万东、万中、万全、黄福、杞洋、深渡、长坑、梅角、长营、罗庚坝、长田、南告、桂培，镇政府的村庄名录还逐一列出了各村所属的自然村。[4]

茶叶是主要产业。据汕尾市民政局介绍，全镇茶园逾1.2万亩，品种以白叶单丛、大乌叶、鸭屎香为主，另有金萱、八仙、英红九号等，中小型加工厂近30家。[3] 青梅、美人芋丝、腐竹、红菇、蜂蜜也是当地的农特产品。[2] 咸菜煲鸡是镇上有代表性的菜肴，以包心芥菜腌制的咸菜、鸡肉和山泉水煮成。[3] 2005年，镇里统计农村社会总产值8890万元，农民人均年收入3390元，同年建成杞洋广隆电站和罗庚坝上坑电站两座小水电。[8] 2018年，镇上有工业企业16家。[7]

文化[edit]

南万吉象歌是当地的民间艺术，主要流传在万全村：艺人用竹片扎架、蒙布成象，由两人撑着，配以山歌对唱，在晒谷坪上表演；它已列入汕尾市级非物质文化遗产名录。[7][3]

这里是海陆丰革命的后方之一。1923年起，范照南等人到万东一带宣传，组织农会；1925年罗庚坝农会成立，钟帝恩、钟少楼任正副会长。[6] 1930年12月，海陆紫县委和县苏维埃政府在激石溪成立。[6] 此后国民党军队多次围剿，据镇政府统计，万东一带被烧房屋600多间，被杀群众147人。[6]

名胜古迹[edit]

南万红锥林为省级自然保护区，面积2486公顷，边界周长40公里，区内有国家一级保护植物桫椤，被称为汕尾八景之一；市级大鲵资源自然保护区也在镇内。[5][3] 南告水库蓄成的南天湖与神象山合称“神象映湖”，列陆河八景之一；神象山海拔653.1米。[5] 万西村的岳坑农会旧址是陆河县文物保护单位。[5] 据汕尾市民政局介绍，寻龙古道距今600多年，相传与明代风水师黄颜子有关，是汕尾保存最完好、最长的古驿道。[3]

荣誉[edit]

镇政府称，南万是汕尾市首个获得“广东省生态示范镇”的镇，也是首个“广东省森林小镇”；此外还拿到“全国生态特色旅游镇”“广东省茶叶专业镇”等头衔。[2] 2021年1月6日，省文化和旅游厅将它列入第二批广东省旅游风情小镇；同月21日，省爱卫会给它颁发“广东省卫生镇”称号。[7]

著名人物[edit]

罗毓和（1860年至1937年），字四季，南告村人，近代名医，在天花预防接种与治疗上有所建树，陆河、紫金、五华一带称他“四季仙”。[3]
