历史沿革[edit]
万西在1975年之前包含在万东大队之内，这一年才独立成队。1984年3月起，大队让位于乡政府；之后依次称万西村（1986年）、万西村管理区（1990年），1999年起为村民委员会，至今未变。[1] 村下的自然村有陶子里、岳坑、梅子头。[3]
经济[edit]
村里山地多，种有苗竹等集体经济林，境内有锌、铅等矿产。[1] 村委与万东村委合作，引进资金合办电站，增加集体收入。[1] 2020年8月，万西村列入首批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单，产业是茶叶。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
岳坑农会旧址在岳坑自然村，背靠莲花山脉的猴子嶂，邻近紫金南岭、庄田和五华黄布、登輋等地。[2] 第二次国内革命战争时期，岳坑一带的农民在彭湃、杨其珊等人领导下成立农会和自卫军，东江特委的古大存也曾在此指导斗争；该处被定为汕尾市国防教育基地和陆河县爱国主义教育基地。[2] 1925年，岳坑农会成立，陈冠三任会长。[4] 2022年3月，汕尾市人民政府公布“岳坑农会遗址”为第三批市级文物保护单位。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2020年12月，广东省爱卫会授予万西村“广东省卫生村”称号。[1]
