桥东社区是汕尾市海丰县城东镇的一个居民社区，镇党委、镇政府设在这里，因在龙津古桥之东而得名，是彭湃的家乡。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

博雅地名网记，桥东村立于明永乐年间；1978年从名园的前身名东大队划出仓兜、桥东、上埔三个自然村，又从龙山大队划出虎亭、洪围，合设桥东大队；1987年改为桥东村委会。此后改称居民委员会的时间，镇政府网站写1992年，博雅地名网写2004年。[1][2]

辖区面积约1.5平方公里，包括桥东、上埔、虎亭、洪围、仓兜、高坣6个自然村，七普常住人口4万多。区内有制衣、制鞋、毛织和首饰加工厂，曾被省里评为「六好和谐社区」。[1]

文化[edit]

1922年7月29日晚，彭湃在家中的得趣书室召集六名农民成立六人农会，虎亭村人张妈安是其中之一。[1][4] 彭湃故居始建于清末，主楼两层，建筑面积266平方米，为广东省级文物保护单位，2016年12月列入全国红色旅游景点景区名录；得趣书室是单层建筑，建筑面积96平方米，1928年被焚，1953年按原貌重建。[3][4] （百度百科把二者记在「海城镇桥东社」，与镇政府网站的归属不同。）

社区材料还列出东晋咸和六年（331年）海丰县城遗址、东晋到明代的龙门市遗址、晋代东岳古庙、迎春山，以及明代国王庙、黎氏宗祠、马氏宗祠、民国彭氏宗祠等；设有城东中学、龙津中学、彭湃小学。[1] 位于社区的五龙寺，1925年建立赤山党支部，1927年东江特委在此办公。[5]
