桥美村在双水镇东南部，离双水墟2公里，被农业农村部认定为全国「一村一品」示范村镇（甘蔗）。[1] 村名取自村内原有的桥头、充美两村各一字。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清顺治年间（1644年—1661年），莫姓先祖从本镇塘河迁来，立桥头村；明崇祯年间（1628年—1644年），郑姓先祖从本镇贵美迁来，立充美村。[1] 民国时桥头、充美两村属第七区达仁乡，1951年合设桥美乡；1953年划出，归东鱼乡，1957年归并基背乡，1958年10月重新分出，称桥美管理区，1984年2月起改乡、改村委会。[1]

经济[edit]

村内设10个村民小组，面积4.5平方千米，有905户、3055人，耕地合计2993亩，甘蔗1100亩、水稻1390亩、鱼塘343亩；镇政府工业用地600亩也在村内。[1] 村里的黄皮甘蔗年产约9000吨，是省级无公害优质果蔗生产基地。[1]

2020年8月，桥美村列入首批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单（果蔗）；2021年10月被农业农村部认定为第十一批全国「一村一品」示范村镇（甘蔗）；2026年1月获评广东省第二批「百千万工程」典型村。[1] 近年村里建了甘蔗驿站、荷花池和商业街一期。[2]
