平东村是汕尾市海丰县平东镇的行政村，村名与镇名同来源，因位于公平之东；离镇区约5千米。民俗学家钟敬文的祖籍地山下村属本村。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

1950年建平东乡，隶海丰二区。到1965年，改以平东大队的名义隶公平公社；其后1984年称平东乡，1987年为平东镇平东村委会，1989年改管理区办事处，1998年复称村委会。[1]

经济与荣誉[edit]

博雅地名网所引材料称全村10个自然村、520户、3244人，耕地3100亩。[1] 2020年8月，平东村的甜叶菊入选首批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村；2023年5月获「2022年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]

山下村与钟敬文[edit]

山下村在村委辖内，位于镇中部偏东，清康熙年间由钟氏从九龙塘背迁来，因建在九龙山岭下而得名；钟、彭两姓为主，钟氏宗祠始建于清代，1983年重建。2015年末户籍人口980人。[2]

钟敬文（1903年—2002年），民俗学家、散文作家，祖籍为山下村，其祖父后迁居公平鱼街。早年在海丰陆安师范学校读书，后在中山大学、北京师范大学任教，是中国民俗学的开创者之一，2002年1月10日在北京逝世。村中的钟敬文故居始建于清末，2008年重建，为县级不可移动文物。[2]
