罗东村又名竹苞村，俗称「竹头」，在国道324线南侧，居民全姓庄，下有11个自然村，如东墩、井头、上寮、下埔、后雅等，此外还有新建的铁道营村。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

罗东乡设于1952年，在九区，此前属六区可塘镇；1958年入可塘公社，1987年改设村委会，1989年称管理区办事处，1998年恢复村委会至今。[1]

经济与遗迹[edit]

村在河流冲积平原上，地势平坦。耕地2562亩，盛产稻谷，养鹅、养鸭向来出名，兼营淡水养殖；上世纪90年代末，有村民在家开办宝石加工厂或毛织厂。[2] 铁道营村后的小山是古代军事设施烟墩的遗址。东湖自然村因村民陆续迁出，到90年代末已无人居住。井头村有个小市场，五罗一带的村民常去赶集。[2]

2023年5月获广东省爱卫会授予「2022年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
