新城村在赤石镇东部，面积约20平方千米，村委会驻新城，离集镇约3公里。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

1950年属第四区赤石乡；1958年设新城大队，归鲘门乡，同年稍后改隶圆墩乡，1960年转属赤石公社。1984年为赤石区公所新城乡，1987年改赤石镇新城村委会，1989年称管理办事处，1998年复设村委会。[1]

地理与经济[edit]

村设洋坑、水口等6个村民小组，共1748人，耕地3547亩，山地2.72万亩。种稻、番薯、葛薯、花生，也种柑橘和竹，畜牧以猪、牛为主。洋坑水库和里坑水库库容分别为30万立方米、72万立方米。[1][2]

名胜古迹[edit]

村里保存着建于宋、元时期的元新古寨与羊坑古寨。[2]村东的洋坑竹仔坑山腰有一处冷泉。[3]
