名称与沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网所载传说，旧时此地山林茂密，常有野山羊出没，叫“羊角山”；村里的廖云桃中举之后，为在乡里炫耀，把地名改作“明星”，1949年后又写成“民新”。[1]1949年至1957年为民新乡，1958年至1983年是民新大队，1983年至1986年称管理区，1999年起称民新村委会。[1]
