新坪塘村是兴宁市刁坊镇的行政村，在镇政府西面约3.5公里，辖18个村民小组，247户、1061人，面积约2.8平方公里，耕地1018亩[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

此地地势平坦，四周环山，附近又有池塘，故称坪塘[1]。这里原是黄沙的一部分，1979年单设坪塘大队；1984年一度并回黄沙乡，1987年复设坪塘村，管理区时期名为新坪塘，1999年起为新坪塘村委会[1]。

村里以种水稻为主，据记载该年全村农村经济总收入713万元[1]。
