周兴村是兴宁市刁坊镇的行政村，在镇政府西南约0.8公里处，棣华围坐落在村内；2013年8月，该村列入第二批中国传统村落名录[1][2]。

历史沿革[edit]

村旁曾有山寨名周兴寨，村民盼望村子兴旺，便以此为村名[1]。1954年至1958年属河塘乡，其后为河塘大队，1978年4月至1987年又属河塘乡；1987年4月起称周兴村，1989年9月改称管理区，1999年4月复称周兴村[1]。

人口民族[edit]

村辖19个村民小组，520户、2304人，耕地1295亩[1]。百度百科称，2007年全村2296人，有刁、罗、曾等8个姓氏，约45%的村民在外务工或经商[2]。

经济[edit]

以种水稻为主，兼种蚕豆等，村里办有自来水厂；据记载该年全村农村经济总收入1697万元[1][2]。2019年9月，列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单[1]。

名胜古迹[edit]

棣华围俗称刁萃丰，由刁氏兄弟六人出资，1914年春动工，1922年建成，坐西南朝东北，为三堂四横一枕杠的四角围龙屋，前有禾坪和池塘；三面围屋及中间枕杠均为两层走马楼，后栋呈半圆形[3]。屋共有16厅21井，房间274间，2009年12月公布为兴宁市文物保护单位，2012年10月公布为第七批广东省文物保护单位（编号V-89）[3]。
