连塘、江头两村合并后，取各自首字称连江。博雅地名网写作1864年为连江大队；1987年起设管理区，1999年改设村民委员会。[1]
连江村列入广东省2018年「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位，名单于2019年9月公布。[1]
