地名由来[edit]
这里原叫江边圩，“边”与“增”、“江”与“光”读音相近，改称增光圩后更顺口，寓意也好。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
增光小村在1870年隶升平社堡，归平山司巡检管辖。民国时期它是多祝一带的增光乡：1931年8月在惠阳县多祝第三区，1937年9月划入第五区（署设多祝镇）。1951年12月，它是第十九区（区府在多祝镇）的增光小乡，1957年12月并入永东乡。1987年有增光乡的增光大队，同年3月改为居委会，2002年起称社区。[2]
2005年12月增光镇并入多祝镇，社区随之归多祝镇管辖；2017年10月再划归平山街道办事处。[2]
