历史沿革[edit]
这里原是荒地，开垦后遍种香蕉，因而得名。民国二十年（1931年）8月，蕉田乡设在惠阳县平山第六区。1953年三联并入，乡名不变；1957年12月蕉田并入永西乡，1958年改称大队，1963年2月起属平山公社。1987年3月，依惠东府函〔1987〕27号文设村委；之后称管理区（1990年）、居委（1991年10月）、社区（2002年）。[2]
2005年12月区划调整（粤民区〔2005〕61号），蕉田社区由大岭镇划归平山街道。惠东府函〔2017〕90号文批准，2017年3月13日从蕉田分出湖榕、泰园两个社区。[2]
社区荣誉[edit]
2022年9月，蕉田社区被评为「惠州市2022年度绿色社区」。[1]
