南湖社区属惠东县平山街道，社区名取自辖区内的南湖，1999年和2020年先后分出园岭、红岭和惠园三个社区。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

南湖居委设于1987年3月（依惠东府函〔1987〕17号），1993年2月改称南湖街道，1996年9月街道办事处撤销后又称居委。1999年6月，园岭、红岭两个居委由它分出；2002年改称社区；2020年11月20日，惠东府函〔2020〕600号批准再分出惠园社区。[1]

社区荣誉[edit]

2022年1月，南湖社区被评为「惠州市2021年度绿色社区」。[1]
