地名由来[edit]

村南有一个大湖，湖水常年发黄，村称黄湖；后来严坳村并入，两村名各取一字，改称黄严。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1966年5月，黄严生产大队从平潭公社划出，归马安公社管委会；1983年11月社改区，改为黄棉乡；1987年1月撤区设镇后，黄棉乡易名黄严管理区，到1999年又改设黄严村委会。[2]
