廖甘社区是肇庆市高要区白诸镇下辖的社区，位于镇圩前，村前公路连接广海北线公路[1]。

地名由来[edit]

据博雅地名网，最早在此居住的是甘姓和廖姓，开村时取名廖甘村；后来甘姓迁到今荷木园村，廖姓迁到今黎屋围村，廖甘村这个村子已不存在，但人们习惯上仍把附近一带叫作廖甘[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

村级建制始于1955年的廖甘社。1958年叫夏廖甘大队，次年归入白诸公社；1968年一度改叫夏播大队，翌年恢复旧名。改革后先后为廖甘乡（1983年）、廖甘村委会（1987年）、廖甘管理区（1989年），2013年改设居委会，成为现在的社区[1]。

经济[edit]

博雅地名网记，这里有338户、1466人，耕地1250亩，集体办有养鸡养鸭的三鸟场和砖瓦厂（该段文字在姚村村的页面上也出现，两处数字相同）[1]。2021年9月，廖甘社区列入广东省农业农村厅公布的第二批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单，品种为火龙果[1]。
