水南镇是广东省肇庆市高要区北部的一个镇，东北与广宁县、四会市交界，西南与本区的乐城镇、禄步镇相邻，辖1个社区和14个行政村[1][2]。全镇总面积约126平方千米，山地多而耕地少[2]。2021年，该镇被广东省农业农村厅列入第三批“一村一品、一镇一业”专业镇，产品为蜂蜜[3]。

历史沿革[edit]

1937年，这一带归一区大迳乡管辖，1943年10月单独设乡，称平南乡[3]。1950年，水南乡政府成立；1958年10月，水南同中源、河台合并为乐城公社，次年7月又分出，成立水南公社[3]。公社在1983年1月改称区，到1986年，水南区再改为水南镇[3]。

地名由来[edit]

同治年间（1862至1874年），大迳河、社坑河和清湾河在此汇合，圩市因而叫河口圩。三水县也有个河口，为免混淆，改称水南圩；博雅地名网有两种解释，一说取大迳河水由北向南流去，一说是借附近水南村的村名[3][4]。

地理环境[edit]

镇域东北邻广宁县和四会市，西南邻乐城镇和禄步镇，禄步平水至广宁宾亨的平宾线县道穿镇而过；到肇庆约50公里，到广州一百多公里[2]。面积约126平方千米，其中山地约16.8万亩，耕地约4500亩，各村已修通水泥路[2][3]。广东省林业局在2018年10月将水南镇认定为「2018年广东省森林小镇」[3]。

人口民族[edit]

据镇情介绍，全镇设130个村民小组，总人口一万四千多，镇区非农业人口约一千零十人，较多的姓氏是陈、甘、赖、杨、钟、苏、卢[2]。第七次全国人口普查数据显示，全镇人口8400人，居高要区各街道、乡镇第17位[3]。

经济[edit]

镇内瓷土储量大、品位高；土特产主要有肉桂、石槁（可制香粉）、深山蜂蜜、松香、佛手，以及沙糖桔、贡柑两种柑桔[2]。该介绍记下的2006年数据为：国内生产总值1.035亿元，工农业总产值1.3104亿元，农村居民人均纯收入4938.5元[2]。2021年9月，水南镇作为蜂蜜产地，列入广东省第三批“一村一品、一镇一业”专业镇[3]。
