高山镇在广东省茂名市茂南区，位于茂名市区东南部，辖1个社区和5个行政村。[1][2]高山公社成立于1961年，是从新坡公社划出来的；1987年改设镇。[1]辖区面积约15平方千米，据第七次全国人口普查，人口约2.65万人。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清代，这一带属茂名县；1941年为茂名县二区新治乡的一部分，1953年归白沙乡。[1]1958年划入茂名市卫星公社，次年改属新坡公社。[1]1961年自新坡公社析出，建高山公社；1983年公社改称区，1987年改区为镇，沿用至今。[1]

镇名取自镇中心的地势：相传旧时村庄建在一处小山坡上，那里是周围几平方千米内的最高点，村子因此叫高山村，镇名由村名而来。[1]

博雅地名网载，早年镇下有8个管理区，除现存的章福、文秀、坡头、黄竹、文岭外，还有高山、南庄、石鳌塘，另设高山居委会。1990年代至21世纪初，低埒、大岭仔、双山、高山、石鳌塘、南庄等先后划出镇外。[1]如今的下辖地区为高山社区和章福、文秀、坡头、黄竹、文岭5个村。[2]

经济与产业[edit]

博雅地名网称，镇上的乡镇企业集中在房地产、建筑建材、电子、化工和餐饮服务等行业，农业以种植水稻、花生和养殖禽类、鱼类为主。[1]2022年10月，高山镇列入当年的淘宝镇名单。[1]

文化[edit]

茂南年代记忆博物馆设在黄竹村，据百度百科，2013年7月创办，是茂名首家民办博物馆，收藏清代至当代的票证、钱币、书画和生产工具等3000余件。[3][4]

荣誉[edit]

镇内的村在卫生村评选中屡有入选：文岭村入选2019年的广东省卫生村名录，文秀、坡头、黄竹三村获评2021年广东省卫生村，高山社区获评2022年广东省卫生村。[1]2026年1月，文秀村、坡头村入选广东省第二批“百千万工程”典型村。[1]
