1961年起归属横山公社，1962年起归属河堤公社，1983年起改称茅坡乡，1987年起称作茅坡管理区，1999年起改称茅坡村委会[1]。

2021年1月，茅坡村入选「湛江市2020年度全市文明村」名单[1]。
