20世纪50年代前期，鹤塘、洪坡、东相塘等村合为一乡，乡政府设在鹤塘村；其后1958年鹤塘、洪坡分别设大队，1987年起称作鹤塘管理区，1999年起改称鹤塘村委会[1]。
2026年1月，鹤塘村获评「广东省第二批百千万工程典型村」[1]。
