村名由辖区内白茅塘、北架两个村的名字各取一字而来。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

北塘社设于1957年，1959年起叫北塘大队，1986年成为村委会，1987年成为管理区，1999年起成为村民委员会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年1月，北塘村在湛江市2020年度评选中，同时入选「全市文明村」和「全市先进文明村」。[1]

2023年5月，北塘村辖下的新村仔村、金井村、北架村、白芒村、后山溪村被广东省爱卫会评为「2022年广东省卫生村」。[1]

在2019年9月公布的名单中，它是「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」的创建单位。[1]
