中山街道是广东省湛江市赤坎区中部的一个街道，辖文东、三和、向阳、桥兴4个社区，面积约4.3平方千米。街道因临中山二路而得名[1]。辖区在赤坎老城之内，博雅地名网称这里是赤坎古商埠的发祥地，保存有古渡头、水仙古井、水仙古庙和广州湾商会馆旧址等遗迹[2]。

历史沿革[edit]

街道的前身是赤坎老城边上的一个小埠。据博雅地名网所载，元代以后，闽、潮一带的居民陆续沿海路南迁，进入赤坎[1]。1953年，它归赤坎中心街道管辖，是其中的一个街道管理区；此后的变动依次是：1958年升为行政街道，1960年6月随赤坎人民公社的设立降回管理区，1968年改称中山街道管理区，直到1980年才复称中山街道[1]。

街道下辖的4个社区都在2002年改设为居委会（社区）。它们此前的沿革大体相同：1980年设大队，1983年改乡，1986年改居委会，1989年改管理区[3][4][5][6]。

地理环境[edit]

街道位于赤坎区中部，是老城区和闹市区，民居旧、人口密，驻有市、区机关和企事业单位100多个，另有中专和中小学校5所[2]。据第七次全国人口普查，街道人口约3.01万人，居赤坎区各街道第6位[1]。街道自己的介绍写到过一个更早的数字：常住人口近3.5万、6820户；并记有2012年规模以上工业总产值0.79亿元[2]。

古商埠与老街[edit]

赤坎是湛江历史最久的城区。据《中国日报》转载的湛江市文化广电旅游体育局公示，赤坎早在宋代已具商埠雏形，海禁解除后海运商贸发展，才形成繁荣的商埠；2024年9月，赤坎老街旅游景区被公示拟评为国家3A级旅游景区[7]。三和社区下设“大通片”，与老街的大通街同名。澎湃新闻称，大通街不足200米长、只有两米多宽，是湛江最古老的商业街，粤、桂、滇三省的进出口货物曾在此集散，货物经相连的石阶渡街运上船；这些渡街中有十条挂着“赤坎埠古码头旧址”的文物保护单位牌子[8]。

20世纪20年代，海泥淤积使港湾东退，坡头商人许爱周同本地绅商合股承办填海，造出了以民族、民权、民生、民主等街名命名的“三民片区”[8][9]。街道内的民主路在当地被称为旧时的“海边街”[9]。

名胜古迹[edit]

  • 广州湾商会会馆：在民主路，由赤坎各商号集资兴建，1925年落成，二层钢筋混凝土结构，仿法国钟楼样式设钟亭，被称为赤坎最早的大型现代建筑；建成后成立的广州湾商会，辖三十余个同业公会，会员过千，在粤西各商会中规模最大[8][10]。1991年被公布为湛江市文物保护单位，2014年修葺后辟为历史民俗馆[8][10]。
  • 广州湾抗日赈灾会旧址：在民主路107号。1937年9月，共产党员许乃超说动商会会长陈澄甫，抗日赈灾会由此以商会之名成立，募捐援助抗日、救济伤兵难民，出版《赈灾周刊》，1939年又组织战地救护队两次赴广西灵山前线[11]。湛江市人民政府在1991年6月将其公布为市文物保护单位；2005年市政府出资维修[11]。
  • 「八路军驻香港办事处交通线广州湾中转站旧址」：在民主路165号，即晨光小学。1938年，廖承志（时任八路军驻香港办事处负责人）派人到广州湾，选定在晨光小学设立香港至重庆地下交通线的中转站，由校长许乃超接待往来人员；晨光小学的中共支部在1940年5月建立[12]。该旧址旧址2012年8月入选湛江市的中共党史教育基地，2018年12月入选该市的爱国主义教育基地[12]。
  • 水仙古庙和水仙古井：街道自己的介绍把水仙古井、水仙古庙同明清古渡口一并列为辖区的文物古迹[2]。澎湃新闻写到，老街居民习惯在清代建的水仙庙前的水井取水，并约定取水时不用手入井[9]。
  • 南华大酒店：1939年由湛江人陈学谈出资、本地建筑师梁日新设计兴建，楼高4层，呈扇形向两条街延伸，澎湃新闻称它是当年赤坎档次最高的消费去处[13]。
  • 五大会馆遗址：清代赤坎先后建有潮州、高州、闽浙、雷阳、广府5座会馆。博雅地名网所载遗址中，闽浙会馆在民主路，旧址今为赤坎区人民医院；高州会馆和广府会馆旧址今为湛江市第四小学，雷阳会馆旧址今为湛江市机关第一幼儿园[14]。其中高州会馆1923年重修时，梁架上雕有8个“番鬼托梁”木雕[14]。
