南水村位于双水镇北面，距镇行政中心约3.5公里，村里有一条小河，河上架着跃龙桥，村在河的南面，故名；传统制香是村里的主要行业。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

南宋景炎年间（1276年—1278年），戴姓先祖从南雄珠玑巷迁到南海立村，明洪武初年（1368年—1378年）再迁到新会衙前大鹰山下的现址。[1] 「天台」是今小冈一带宋元时的古名，明万历县志记有天台甲、天台村，清代以后所指范围缩小，今指南水、北水两村。[1] 民国时属第六区潭冈乡，1951年起属天式乡，1955年属罗坑区，之后并入天式管理区，1959年单设南水大队，1961年隶小冈人民公社。[1]

经济[edit]

1999年5月，村民自治成立南水村民委员会，下设洋洛、仓后、大龙、东宁、长康、南溪6个村民小组；全村351户、1236人，耕地1046亩，其中水稻874亩、鱼塘172亩。[1] 村里做香的工场、店铺有40多家，大部分村民从事制香，资料记上一年集体经济收入58.7万元，人均收入6310元。[1]
