龙头村在双水镇东南，坐落于笔架山的山坳里，距双水墟4.6公里，属民田区。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

元至元六年（1340年），黄姓先祖从杜阮迁来定居；另一种说法是明崇祯年间（1628年—1644年）黄姓的彦中从杜阮横岗来此立村。[1] 村子东、南、西三面靠山，房屋聚成椅子形的梯形；远看笔架山起伏如龙，村口山麓的石门庙（今重建为石龙庙）像一个龙头，村名由此而来。[1] 清顺治年间曾有「龙头贼反」的谣言，村民避讳，一度改称「坳头」，后又复称龙头。[1]

明万历县志已记有龙头村。[1] 民国时属第七区天塔乡，解放初归龙山乡；富美乡在1955年将它并入，1958年起又归富美管理区，1959年单设龙头大队，1999年起称龙头村委会。[1]

经济[edit]

改革开放后，山坳外两端也建起了新的住宅；村域面积3.3平方千米，有519户、1459人，村民以耕作和饲养为生。[1] 村北高圳河畔是龙头村渔民的定居点。[1]
