汤村是里水镇北部的行政村，总面积4.3平方千米，含8个自然村；辖下的汤南村列入第五批中国传统村落名录[1][2]。

相传始祖汤贵公在后晋石敬瑭之乱（942年）后举家外出为官，来到南海苏山堡的胭脂塘（在今上社与汤南之间），被大蛇拦路，便占卜定居于塘边，是为汤村[3]。

历史沿革[edit]

明代是南海县苏山堡的辖地；康熙二十五年（1686年）新设花县，整个苏山堡改归花县；同治年间划回南海，隶属金利司的桃子堡；民国17年（1928年）后归第二区金溪乡；1953至1956年为第九区民胜乡；1958年底到1959年7月，先后隶属东风（官窑）公社、里和公社的民胜大队[1]。

汤南古村落[edit]

汤南村最兴盛的时期是清乾隆至道光年间，当时不少村民出外经商，回乡兴建房屋、厅堂、庙宇、围墙和炮楼，以砖雕、灰雕、墙画见长。现存的建筑群重建于清道光年间，传统建筑面积3.4万平方米，民居、祠堂、家庙、晒坪、广场、池塘俱全，采用镬耳式封火山墙和“三间两廊”格局，小巷纵横，呈棋盘式布置[4]。

经济[edit]

村委简介称，辖区耕地3242亩，另有鱼塘1200亩、花卉地800亩；本地村民2263人，外来人口300人[5]。2020年8月，汤村的香水百合入选首批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村[1]。
