赤山村是里水镇下辖的行政村，约1350年开村，始祖李文举自南雄珠玑巷迁来；2019年6月，赤山村入选「第五批中国传统村落」名录[1][2]。

村名取自村后山岗泥土赤红；此地原叫赤火岗，又名积富岗[3]。

赤山古村[edit]

赤山古村在里水镇中部，居民以李姓为主，占地约0.87平方千米，人口约734人。村内保留“将军第”，为第十二代后人李胜龙所建，据介绍他在嘉庆年间中进士，官至广州名威将军；旁边是他为父亲所建的李天复公祠。赤山人民会场原是李氏第十五代李显生修的生祠，20世纪60年代初改建而成[2]。

历史沿革[edit]

1958年前是赤岗乡，之后为赤岗大队；1960年自宏岗大队分出，以赤山村命名；1969年改赤山革委会，后复称大队；1984年为赤山乡，1987年称村委会，1989年改管理区，1999年管理区改为行政村[1]。

荣誉[edit]

2023年11月，赤山村入选广东「百千万工程」首批典型县镇村；2021年、2022年两次列入淘宝村名单[1]。
