柴井社区属汕头市澄海区凤翔街道，位于街道东南7.5公里处，面积1.5平方公里，以种植韭菜、紫菜为主。[1]相传清咸丰末年外砂内陇村民来此开荒，后外砂村民为避兵祸迁来聚居；村里凿井，井底沙质塌陷，村民改用大木板作井壁，因此得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

此地原属外砂乡，1959年起，柴井成为坝头人民公社下的生产大队；1986年11月设柴井村，属坝头镇。[2]2002年坝头镇撤销，辖区划入凤翔街道，柴井改称社区，沿用至今。[2]

经济[edit]

据博雅地名网所载，社区耕地1200亩，有827户、3853人，居民收入主要靠种养，近年开始有羊毛加工业。[1]2020年8月，柴井社区列入广东省农业农村厅公布的首批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单（韭菜）。[1]
