昆美社区属汕头市澄海区凤翔街道，在澄海城区东南，西南邻港口社区，北至凤翔路，东靠凤新工业区，约0.6平方公里。[1]这里是旧县城排水入海沟的末端，俗称水沟尾；西北有双凤山，山岗称「昆」，故叫昆尾，后改为雅称昆美。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

此地原属海阳县下外莆都辟望，澄海建县后属澄海县。[2]1935年同信宁合称宁美乡；1946年的水沟尾与东湖、外埔、信宁、港口组成秀水乡；1956年至1957年并入信宁乡。[2]1961年与信宁分立，成立昆美生产大队；经昆美村（1986年）、凤翔街道的管理区，到2002年成为昆美社区。[2]
